Mole Solutions

You are likely familiar with the molehills that moles produce during excavation of their underground feeding tunnel systems. Molehill activity tends to be greatest between autumn and spring. As a result moles are blamed for damaging lawns, farms and property.

Mole Facts

  • Moles are solitary, seldom more than five to an acre
  • Moles eat only live insects and worms
  • Moles do not hibernat
  • Moles have cylindrical bodies covered in fur with small or covered eyes. Ears are not visible.
  • Diet consists primarily of earthworms and other small invertebrates found in the soil.
  • Because their saliva contains a toxin that can paralyze earthworms, moles are able to store their still living prey for later consumption.
