Indian Meal Moth
This species of insect obtained its title, when an early American Entomologist by the name of Asa Fitch
observed it feeding on Indian meal or corn meal.
The ubiquitous Indianmeal Moth, Plodia interpunctella (Hubner), is a “stored product pest” found in
both homes and grocery stores. That next bag of birdseed you purchase may be feeding more than just your backyard birds.
